Everything you need to know to start playing on Astroworld. If something here is missing or unclear, check the FAQ on the support page or send us a message.

First Join

When you join for the first time, you land in the hub. Spawn protections are on so you can look around safely. From the hub you travel to wherever you actually want to play.

You will get a welcome message and your gamemode is set automatically. Default join messages are suppressed so the chat stays clean for everyone.

To get into the survival world, type /survival or use the survival NPC in the hub.

Travel Commands

These move you between worlds.

  • /hub - sends you back to the hub from anywhere
  • /spawn - same as /hub, returns you to the hub
  • /survival - sends you to the survival world. If you've played there before, you return to your last location. If not, you land at the survival spawn.
  • /rtp - random teleport in the survival world. Useful for finding a fresh spot to build.

/rtp options

  • /rtp - random teleport in the overworld
  • /rtp overworld - same, explicit
  • /rtp nether - random teleport in the Nether

Starter money: $1,000

Starter kit (delivered automatically):

  • Iron sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe
  • Claim Shovel (golden shovel for marking land)
  • Bread, cooked beef, carrots, potatoes
  • Wheat, pumpkin, and melon seeds
  • Sugar cane
  • White bed
  • Torches
  • Full leather armor

This kit is one-time only, on first join.

Claims

Your land is yours. The claim system protects every block inside a claim from being broken, placed, or stolen by anyone you haven't trusted.

Starting blocks

  • 768 claim blocks when you first join
  • Earn more by playing: 256 blocks per hour while online
  • Maximum total: 80,000 blocks

Claiming with the Claim Shovel

Right-click two opposite corners of an area with the Claim Shovel. The system marks it as yours.

  • /buychunk - buy 1 extra chunk of claim blocks
  • /buychunk 3 - buy 3 chunks at once (max 8 per command)
  • /buychunks - same as /buychunk (alias)

Each chunk you buy adds 256 claim blocks.

Claim chunk pricing

The price scales with how long you've played and how many chunks you've already bought.

  • New players (under 1 hour playtime): $45,000 per chunk
  • Chunks 1 to 5: $15,000 each
  • Chunks 6 to 10: $22,500 each
  • Chunks 11 to 20: $32,500 each
  • Chunks 21 and beyond: $45,000 each

Buying claim chunks only works in the survival world.

  • /discord - gets your linking instructions
  • /link discord - same

There are also Discord NPCs in the hub. Click them to start the link flow.

Ranks

Astroworld has two rank ladders.

Donor ranks

These unlock cosmetics, more homes, more auction slots, and other quality-of-life perks. Available on the website store.

  • Member - default rank everyone starts with
  • VIP
  • VIP+
  • MVP
  • King
  • Immortal

Staff ranks

Staff are members of the team who help run the server. They have visible rank tags in chat.

  • Helper - answers player questions
  • Builder - works on server builds
  • Moderator - handles reports, mutes, bans
  • Developer - works on plugins and systems
  • Administrator - runs the server day to day
  • Owner

Anyone claiming to be staff but missing a visible rank tag is impersonating staff. Report them via the support page.

Rank Kit

/kit claims your current rank's kit. Higher ranks get better starting items each time you claim.

Scoreboard

The scoreboard on the right side of your screen shows current stats: your money, AstroCoins, claim blocks, and other useful info.

  • /sb - toggles the scoreboard on or off

Common Issues

"I lost my items"

If you died and your items disappeared:

  • Did you have a totem? It saves you once.
  • Did another player take them? PvP kills are final.
  • Did the server crash? Check the news page for any reported incidents.

If none of those apply, file a report through the support page with your username, approximate location, and time of death. We can sometimes restore items but not always.

"Someone scammed me"

File a report through the support page with the other player's username, what was traded, and any screenshots or chat logs. Use /trade for safe item swaps in the future.

"My commands don't work in the hub"

Some commands like /sethome, /home, and /buychunk only work in the survival world. The hub is for travel only.

"I can't break or place blocks somewhere"

You're probably standing in someone else's claim. Use the Claim Shovel right-click to see who owns the area.

Other perks

  • Display in tab list with rank badge
  • Priority join during high-traffic events
  • Some ranks unlock color codes for nicknames

Specific cosmetic and perk lists per rank are shown on the store page.

Staff Ranks

Staff are members of the team who help run the server. They have visible rank tags in chat so players can tell them apart.

RankRole
HelperAnswers player questions, handles small reports
BuilderWorks on server builds and events
ModeratorHandles reports, mutes, bans, appeals
DeveloperBuilds and maintains plugins and systems
AdministratorRuns the server day-to-day, oversees moderation
OwnerOwns the server, has final say on policy

Recognizing real staff

Real staff always have a visible rank tag in chat. If someone says they're staff but doesn't have the tag, they're impersonating staff. That's a rule break.

Real staff:

  • Will never ask for your password
  • Won't ask you to install software or click external links
  • Don't accept payment for special treatment
  • Don't trade ranks for in-game money or items

If you see suspicious behavior from someone claiming to be staff, file a report through the support page.

Becoming staff

Applications open and close throughout the year. Check the apply page on the website for current openings.

We don't take applications in DMs. We don't take applications during gameplay. The only way is the form on astroworldmc.com/apply.

Nicknames

Set a custom nickname to display in chat instead of your username.

  • Maximum length: 15 characters
  • Allowed: letters, numbers, underscores
  • All nicknames display with a ~ prefix so other players can see who's nicknamed
  • Some donor ranks unlock color codes in nicknames

Use the in-game nick commands to set, change, or remove your nickname.

Display in Chat

Your rank shows up as a colored tag before your name in chat:

[Member] PlayerOne: hi
[VIP+] PlayerTwo: anyone selling diamonds?
[Mod] StaffMember: please keep main chat in English

The tab list (press TAB in-game) shows everyone online with their rank badge so you can see who's around.

How to Rank Up

Donor ranks are purchased from the official store on the website.

There is no way to rank up by playing more or by trading in-game money for ranks. The only path is the website store.

Anyone offering to "sell you a rank" for in-game money or items is scamming. Report them. See the rules page for the full policy on real-money trading.

GAMEPLAY

Boss System

Hunt, fight, and conquer. Astroworld bosses are the highest stakes fights on the server. Collect fragments, craft summon eggs, defeat bosses in their arenas, and earn premium rewards.

Overview

There are six regular bosses and one endgame boss on Astroworld. Each regular boss has a matching arena, attack pattern, and reward pool. The endgame boss only spawns through the Eye system.

The loop is simple: kill mobs to earn fragments, identify fragments, combine three matching fragments into a Boss Egg, then use that egg in the matching arena.

Fragments & Eggs

Boss Fragments are the main summoning currency. They drop as Unidentified Fragments or as boss-specific fragments after identification.

  • Hostile mob kills can drop Unidentified Fragments.
  • Every boss fight grants at least one fragment.
  • Top 5 boss placement grants one extra fragment.

  • Maximum 500 counted damage per hit.
  • A 5 second minimum hit spacing limits burst cheese.
  • Only player damage counts.
  • AFK participants can be removed from the live list.

Eyes & Void Sovereign

Eyes are the endgame summon path for Void Sovereign. Place eyes on eight arena pillars to trigger the fight.

  • Endermen can drop Eyes of Astroworld.
  • Top 5 placement in regular boss fights can grant eyes.
  • Cosmic crates can roll eyes.

Each of the eight pillars holds two eyes. When all 16 eyes are placed, Void Sovereign spawns and rewards use the standard damage tracking model.

Tips & FAQ

Can I solo a boss?

Yes, but fights are designed for groups. Solo runs work best after you have strong gear and Boss Armor progress.

Do fragments expire?

No. Fragments and Boss Eggs are permanent.

Can someone steal my boss?

No. Total damage controls rewards, not final hit.

Why did I miss a pouch?

You may have joined late, gone AFK, or dealt too little counted damage.
